2008-01-07 - After a bit of silence on this front, a new edition of our map making competition has started. To quote from the press release:
"Challenge your players to carefully plan how they roll their marble around if they want to reach the end of your puzzle in one piece. Leave clues to get your players thinking and to guide them on the right path and place nasty traps for those who don't think twice before rolling once. Bring to life this sometimes overlooked component of Marble Arena and take your pick from the full games available in the Prize Bucket.
This is the first edition that will make full use of the ability to rate Marble Arena maps directly from inside the game. This way players will have a very important role in deciding who truly deserves to win and to gain access to the Prize Bucket loot.
So put your thinking caps on and let's see what you can devise.
2008-01-04 - Since a lot of new features have been added to Marble Arena, the old way to decide who the best player were based only on the number of upgrade points became outdated. A new system that takes into account everything a player does is now in place and in our opinion it's a lot fairer in reflecting who the actual best players are.
This new system calculates your overall ranking by considering the upgrade points and stats you submitted and also all the best times and best scores you have and how they are in relation to what other players have achieved. A more detailed description can be found in our forum.
2007-12-18 - After about two weeks of silence (occasional screaming here and there) Marble Arena 1.4 is out. It has a lot of new additions, their purpose being to bring our player community closer together by providing them with ways to rate the levels they play, to see how well they do on official servers and to be more easily informed when new stuff is available for free for them to play. I hope everybody enjoys this new version and as always the forum is open for suggestions.
2007-12-11 - Last week's competition roared across the finish line. A very difficult decision had to be taken since both maps were very interesting, but in the end there can be only one (on the first place). gagaga102 takes first place and jimbobgreen takes second. Be sure to download their maps from our Free Maps section.
2007-12-03 - Start laying tarmac, burn marble rubber and leave your opponents in a trail of marble dust, because speed is this week theme's center point. Create the most breathtaking circuit by cleverly placing powerups, ramps or traps and take your pick from the prizes the Prize Bucket has to offer.
2007-12-03 - This week's competition has come to an end. It's been a very interesting theme it seems. We've had two very original submissions. If you've ever wondered what Mario would play if you were a marble or how intense Pac Man would be if you would be chased around by rolling enemies, check out this week's winning maps.
2007-11-26 - The second edition of "The Architect" competition is rolling onto a PC and Mac near you. This week's theme is "Replicas". The basic idea is to create a map as similar as possible to one you found in your favorite game or other marble rolling games.
Some of the more popular marble games that you could use as inspiration are Marble Madness, Marble Blast, Monkey Ball, HamsterBall, etc.
If you're into more exotic source of inspiration, you could try fps games. Counter Strike is just one example. If you can make the level playable with a marble, then any copy will do.
One rule: when posting your map you gotta tell us what level from what game you are attempting to copy.
Now lets see what you can cook up !
2007-11-26 - One week after version 1.2 was released, we're releasing version 1.3. A few new maps have been added, including the winning map of last week's The Architect competition. All the new maps have been created by our most active map maker, Makkelele. Also, bugs discovered during this last week have been fixed and a few new improvements have been added.
2007-11-26 - The first edition of our weekly "The Architect" competition has come to an end. The winner is Makkelele. Being the single winner we decided to award him with one game of his choice instead of making him choosing between some we could offer. He chose to get a full copy of "Mystery Case Files - Madam Fate", and he got it :D. Enjoy it, Makke !
2007-11-20 - It's a pleasure to announce the official start of our weekly "The Architect" competition. The goal of the competition is to create a map based on a certain theme that we provide. We'll do our best to fill the prize bucket with great games that you'll all like and want to compete for. Also, winners will get a customized high res image of the cup they won. If you'd like to win a certain game, go ahead and suggest it on the forum.
2007-11-19 - The latest version of our game is out. It has loads of new features, several bug fixes and plenty of new maps to keep you busy. Special thanks to our community members who submitted some great maps this past week. The full list of features and bug fixes can be found here.
2007-11-14 - A forum is nice, but sometimes you'd like some quick answers or you would like to see who's online and let them know you'd like to host a game or that you have a new map. For this reason we decided to get our very own chat room. You'll most probably find someone there who'll be able to answer your questions or join you in a multiplayer game.
2007-11-05 - Time to show off. Man, i love it when i get a chance to do this :D. Marble Arena gets Reviewers Choice award on Acid-Play.com. We're really flattered by the great review and, off course, believe that they are absolutely 100% correct :P. Check out the full review here
2007-11-01 - We're releasing a little patch to allow you to use the keyboard for certain things instead of the mouse wheel or the right mouse button. More details here.
2007-10-30 - It seems one little key is not described in the in-game keys so remember : PRESS R TO RESPAWN YOUR MARBLE !
2007-10-29 - Marble Arena has seen the light of day. The press release is out, the downloads are ready and waiting. We hope you all enjoy the game and have loads of fun playing it. Looking forward to seeing you on the forums.
2007-10-28 - After a few days of tinkering with php, phpBB2 and all that good stuff, the website is fully operational. We have a forum where we'll try to answer all of your questions and an online hall of fame where you can post your highscore directly from the game. The hall of fame will only feature the first 25 players so give it your best shot to make it up there.
2007-10-24 - After testing the game a bit more and being happy with the results, I can now move on to creating the website. The main goal is to keep it nice and clean and provide easy access to what our visitors will be most interested in. Among the special features that will be implemented, I'd like to mention the online hall of fame where players will be able to post their stats to and compete for the 25 highest positions, and the forum where we'd like to set up a nice environment for people to talk about the game, get help, and post the maps that they created.
2007-10-21 - After a few months in the making, Marble Arena is done. Both the PC and the Mac version have been completed. It's been a fun trip, took longer than initially expected, but it was worth the extra effort because now we can also provide our players with a pretty easy set of tools that they can use to create their own levels and show them to the world. Really looking forward to seeing what people will think and if the editing community will grow as we expect it to.
